Admissions

BITSAT (BITS Admission Test) is an online examination for admission into integrated first degree programmes across BITS Pilani campuses (Pilani, Hyderabad & Goa). BITSAT is conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) Pilani annually. There are also other higher educational institutions that accept BITSAT score.

About BITS

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, recognized as an Institute of Eminence by MHRD. It is India’s leading non-government Institute of Higher Education and a deemed to be university. Along with the main Pilani Campus, BITS has campuses in Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai; which offer around 13,000 UG, 800 PG and 1,100 Doctoral students across its campuses. It also offers programmes to nearly 19,000 working professionals through its Work Integrated Learning Programmes. BITSAT is the common entrance test for admission in all these campuses in which students are tested in areas of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and English.

BITSAT 2020 Eligibility

  • Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2020 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2019 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT2020 test. 

  • The candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology (as per the student’s choice of subject in BITSAT) in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology subjects. 

  • Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (Biology for B. Pharm) and adequate proficiency in English for admission. However, candidates with PCM may also apply for the Pharmacy program.

  • First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2020 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2020 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website by 15th of May 2020.

12 Additional Questions*

  • All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. 

  • ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS*: If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.

BITSAT 2020 Examination Centers

  • Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa along with 58 other cities are planned to be the examination centers. However, depending on the applications received, the centers may vary and the candidates can choose three preferences while applying and one of them will be allotted.

  •  If a candidate chooses Dubai as a center, he/she will not be asked for any other center preference and will be allotted Dubai center only. 

  • Hostel accommodation will be provided to the candidates who are allotted test centers in BITS campuses.

* The candidates who join M.Sc. programme are eligible to apply for a dual degree in Engineering at BITS Pilani after completion of one year.
