JEE Main or Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a national level competitive examination for undergraduate engineering and architecture courses conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Students aspiring to take admission in 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), 20 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and 19 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). And the students aiming to get admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), RGIPT, IISERs and IISc, have to clear JEE Main first.
As per the nodal agency's web site, the (B. E. / B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will be eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). It is the sole prerequisite for admission in the Indian Institutes of Technology. Candidates should rank among the top candidates in Paper-1 of JEE (Main), broken down per category to be eligible to take JEE (Advanced).
JEE Main is conducted twice a year. This year the first set of examinations was conducted in January 6-9 in two shifts. The second set of examinations will be conducted between 5-11 April 2020. The candidates can appear for both sessions of examinations and the best score of the two times is considered. Candidates securing suitable All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main can participate in JoSAA counselling and seek admission in the preferred colleges/institutions.

Admission Criteria: JEE Main 2020
Admission criteria includes the performance of students in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in JEE (Main). The (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
Eligibility

The candidates should have passed their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 or 2019 or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020 with Science stream (i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) are eligible to appear in the JEE(Main) April -2020 Examination.

Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2017 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2020.

IITs permit only two attempts for the JEE (Advanced), i.e. a candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2019 or 2020, subject to the condition of not having been admitted at an IIT on earlier occasion.

There is no age limit for the candidates to appear for the JEE (Main) examination. The candidates should also satisfy themselves about their fulfilling the age limit requirements of the Institutes in which they are desirous of taking admission. The candidates must note that the IITs have an age limit / restriction, which will be published in JEE(Advanced)-2020 Information Brochure.

B. Arch: Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in CBT mode and Drawing Test –Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.

B. Planning: Mathematics- Part I , Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions-Part III in CBT mode.
Examination Centers

The exam will be held in 233 cities in the states and UTs of India. Candidates can choose 4 centers while filling application form and only one center is allocated to them.

8 JEE Main Exam Centers can be chosen from outside India. Documents required by foreign nationals include- Visa, Passport, Residential Permit. Bahrain, Colombo, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore are the centers outside India.
